AR0 - Introduction


Arduino refers to an open-source electronics platform or board and the software used to program it. Arduino is designed to make electronics more accessible to artists, designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.


Arduino Uno:

Arduino Uno is a micro controller board based on the ATmega328P. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz quartz crystal, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the micro controller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.

All boards are labelled with the FCC and CE logo, as they meet the electromagnetic compatibility standards set in their respective jurisdictions.

The breadboard is one of the most important parts in your kit as you can build circuits on it.

It has a DC motor that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy when electricity is applied to its leads, coils of wire inside the motor become magnetized when current flows though them.

There gels (red, green, blue) Filter out different wavelengths of light.

The arduino board has a power connector, reset button, USB port , TX and RX LEDs, digital pins, pin 13 LED, GND and SV pins, AT mega microcontroller, analog in, power LED, etc...

 It has a temperature sensor and a tilt sensor.

It has light emitting diodes (LEDs) which is a type of diode that illuminates when electricity passes through it.

They have jumper wires, these are connect compounds to each other on the breadboard, and to the arduino.

Ohm's Law: Color Code

Here is a chart of the Ohm's Law color code system. Right now ill be telling you how to calculate a 220 ohm resistor.

So the 220 ohm resistor color pattern is red red brown gold.

The first and second pattern colors (the two red's) are digits. They're value's are 2 so they make 22
because 2 and 2 are put beside each other not added or multiplied.

The third pattern is a multiplier so it takes the two or three digits and multiplies it by 1---- and its color's value shows how many 0's are after the 1. But the resistor we are looking at is the 220 ohm resistor so its color is brown. Brown's value is 10-1 which equals x10

(Note) Think of the 10 in the multiplier as just a 1 and the numbers on the sheet are the amount of 0's you put after the 1

The forth and final pattern on the 220 ohm resistor is tolerance indicator. They show that there is a number between the increased and decreased percentage of ohm's. On the 220 ohm resistor it is gold which is 5%. Which means the number of ohm's we have is somewhere between a 5% increase and decrease.

(Example) 22 x 10 = 220    220 +/- 5% = 231 high
                                                                         so our amount of ohm's is between the high and the low
                                                               = 209 low
